AUDI
Audi wants to help advance biodiversity at its production sites worldwide.
Commitment
Audi applauds the efforts of the 15th UN Conference of the Parties (2021/2022) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its ambitious goal of establishing a global framework for the effective protection of biodiversity, also involving economic stakeholders.
Climate change, water and resource scarcity as well as the loss of biodiversity are some of the biggest challenges of the present times. Audi has also recognized this and wants to take on the issues described above with its Mission: Zero environmental program, initiated in 2019 for its own production.
In line with this Mission:Zero program, Audi wants to help maintain biodiversity at its production sites worldwide, among other things. Audi has therefore introduced a biodiversity index to assess improvements at the company’s own production sites, including
- designing naturalistic open spaces,
- reducing consumption of land and resources, and
- implementing biodiversity projects with external partners.
In addition, Audi has integrated biodiversity into the Environmental Compliance Management System, continuously reviews progress and develops new measures from it.
Audi has also been an active member of the corporate initiative “Biodiversity in Good Company” since 2015. The company has thus committed to – and regularly publishes progress reports with respect to – the three goals of the international Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which are:
- conserving biodiversity,
- sustainable use of its components and
- equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources.
Furthermore, Audi is striving to reduce the use of natural resources along the supply chain in line with the “Code of Conduct for Business Partners” (Documents & Policies | audi.com). This defines sustainability requirements for direct business partners of the entire Volkswagen Group.
